Because you’re not what I would have you be, I blind myself to who, in truth, you are.
- Madeleine L’Engle
We share our thoughts. Tell our stories. Push our agendas. Blog. Comment. Tweet. Each of us longs to be heard.
Yet few truly take the time to listen.
The blog explores what listening means and why it’s crucial in our personal lives and for the world at large. Listening make us more aware. Empowers those around us. Fosters understanding. Builds trust. Promotes harmony. I’m fascinated with the power of listening. It’s the magic fuel of life.
But I digress. Introductions first. My name is Glen Kendell. This is me at the 2009 Non Profit Technology Conference after-party.
I’m Chief Hosting Officer at Beyond Nines, a web hosting company. We’ve been in business since 2002, serving non-profits and small businesses. My career as an entrepreneur started at age 7 selling vegetables that I had grown in my backyard to friends and neighbors. I studied Physics and Geophysics at the University of Washington. After graduating in 1991, I’ve been an avid technologist with experience in software development, product management, information security and data center operations.
I love traveling. Meeting new people teaches me more than I could ever learn on my own. One of my favorite experiences was traveling to India in 2005.
I love dogs, college football, caramel, playing the guitar and Bhangra dancing.
